Why Circus?
Circus skills improve the physical abilities and control over the bodily actions of the participants.
Benefits include: bi-manual coordination or ambidexterity, brain and body balancing, postural control and body orientation, self-image, muscle and core strength, cardio-vascular fitness, flexibility, eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, increase reflex speed, improve sense of rhythm/timing and non-verbal expression.
Other improvements are hand-to-eye coordination, depth perception or peripheral vision, that not only help with other sports but have also been related to the improvement in reading and writing skills.
The ability to concentrate and to be persistent, to attain the goal of a new trick or skill, can be applied to less exciting tasks, for example.
Learning new skills give participants a sensation of accomplishment. This sense of achievement can boost self-esteem and it can be a great confidence builder.
Pyramid building, for example, is an excellent team builder. Participants have to work together to achieve a common goal.
